The First Full Trailer for Disney’s Live-Action ‘Aladdin’ Just Dropped

Will Smith's much-criticized Genie look is finally fixed in this sneak peek but there are never-before-seen shots of other fan-favorites like Aladdin's trusty sidekick Abu and the Magic Carpet.

Like all solid trailers should do, this latest one for Aladdin sets up the central story: a street-savvy, scrappy young dude named Aladdin (newcomer Mena Massoud) meets a gorgeous and headstrong princess called Jasmine (Power Rangers actress Naomi Scott) in a market in the fictional city of Agrabah.

Disney released the trailer on Twitter with the caption: "A whole new world".

The first full-length trailer featured the blue Smith shown at the end with Aladdin entering the cave to retrieve the magical lamp in which the Genie resides.

This trailer is an improvement over that TV spot that revealed Smith's Genie, and indeed I don't think it's a coincidence that this trailer is so heavily focused on the live-action elements of this remake.

Soon after the worrying response to the first trailer for Aladdin, Disney has dropped another trailer ahead of the film's May release.

Robin Williams had famously voiced Genie in the 1992 animated version.

The initial response to Disney's live-actionAladdin remake has been primarily dominated by fans roasting Will Smith's bluer-than-blue Genie, but that's not to say people aren't still excited by the prospect of director Guy Ritchie's take on the animated classic.

Watch the new trailer below. Yes, even the actor's not-menacing-at-all voice. We got some of the songs AND way more footage. Mena Massoud retains his American accent in the lead role, Naomi Scott has fewer lines but several moments to look regal in her intricate costumes, but Marwan Kenzari is still a little underwhelming as the villainous Jafar.
