Twitter sent its own team out to Missouri City to take advantage of the good will (and good PR for the platform) and picked up the tab for the slew of new customers visiting the shop.

"My dad is sad 'cause no one is coming to his new donut shop", By tweeted.

Billy By posted photos of his dad's empty doughnut shop on Saturday, writing that he was "sad" with the low turnout for the grand opening.

The tweet subsequently went viral, with over 320,000 retweets and 730,000 likes as of Tuesday morning, and celebrities including Casey Neistat and actor James Woods amplifying the tweet.

It wasn't long before people responded, asking for the shop's address and vowing to go buy donuts if the stop was close enough. This prompted some Twitter employees to pay a visit to Billy's Dount Shop - and they bought out the whole store for all the customers, By wrote on Twitter. However, he updated Twitter followers on Monday to say that Billy's Donuts was sold out for the day before 12:00 p.m.

Billy By helped spread the word about his dad's donut shop - and now they're consistently selling out donuts. The post also stated the donut shop's Instagram page, all in this son's effort to encourage possible customers to drop by the shop. His father's freshly-stocked inventory had completely sold out!

People in the area responded to the tweet promising that they would come down to the shop, and they did just that. "You are all unbelievable", By tweeted, along with a photo of his no-longer-sad father.
