Real Madrid have agreed a €50million (£42.6m) deal to sign Porto defender Eder Militao, Globo reports. His debut came against Moreirense in the League and he got his name on the scoresheet for the first time against Schalke in the Champions League.

But, after just 33 appearances, Real Madrid were convinced to sign him for €50 million and he has signed a contract until 2025.

After undergoing medical testing overnight on Tuesday, Real Madrid confirmed the news on Thursday.

The 21-year-old Militão, who moved to Porto from Brazilian side Sao Paulo last summer, has been in top form since arriving European football and has emerged the best defender in Portuguese topflight for the fourth time in February.

Militao - who can play as a central defender, right-back or defensive midfielder - was also linked with Liverpool and Manchester United. It stands out for its speed, placement and ability to anticipate.

Militao has had an excellent first season in Europe, becoming a key part of the Porto squad and starting 20 league and seven Champions League matches, scoring three goals in the process. "In addition, he has a good aerial game".

He is also a full Brazil global and made his debut against El Salvador in September 2018.
