Facebook says outage is 'not related to a DDoS attack'

Facebook is now down with people all around the globe having difficulty accessing the world's largest social network.

Instagram users have reported being unable to refresh the feed, log in, or access the desktop site.

That said, you may be be experiencing issues relating to the loading of posts.

"We're working on getting it fixed as soon as we can", a message told many users as they tried to post content. Facebook Messenger has also been affected and has also been having issues at the same time around Instagram.

According to Down Detector, a website that tracks online service interruptions, most of the outage was in Europe and on America's East and West coasts.

On Twitter, a number of users posted memes and jokes about the outage.

Facebook did not give an estimate for when they expect the problem to be resolved. Some users saw a message that said Facebook was down for "required maintenance".

Many of us spend the day alleviating our boredom by scrolling through our social networks. The outage spans across Facebook Messenger as well.

It is still unclear when two of the biggest social media networks will be back up and running.
