Trailing 3-1 after the first leg Aubameyang got Arsenal off to the flawless start in the first five minutes, turning home Aaron Ramsey's cross.

There has been the odd wobble since then, but Arsenal are in the Premier League's top four and through to the last eight in European competition following a battling victory over Rennes.

Arsenal needed a fast start and they got one, opening the scoring in the fifth minute when Maitland-Niles and Aaron Ramsey combined down the right channel to tee up Aubameyang for a simple close-range finish.

"Yes, he came in and had a great career in terms of what he did at Sevilla".

But Arsenal's tempo slipped and a run from Hatem Ben Arfa - an outcast under current Gunners boss Unai Emery at Paris Saint-Germain - ended with a tame shot at Petr Cech.

Aubameyang opened and closed the scoring for the hosts, either side of setting up Ainsley Maitland-Niles for his side's second goal, which should not have stood due to an offside infringement.

A double change from Emery 20 minutes from time made a big difference for Arsenal, however, as moments after Alex Iwobi scuffed a shot wide from a good position, fellow sub Henrikh Mkhitaryan played a huge part in his side's killer third goal.

What does it mean? But, having got back on level terms quickly, the Gunners took their foot off the pedal and allowed Rennes to establish a foothold in the match. Well, that was until Aubameyang struck in the second half to complete his brace and extended their lead.

But it seems the Champions League performance has convinced the London outfit and they will go ahead with the transfer.

"Over the years, the last 10 years or so, that's not been the case". He should have had a hat-trick, too, missing two late chances to secure the match ball.

Gabon global Aubameyang opened the scoring in the fifth minute then settled nerves at Emirates Stadium with the Gunners' third goal in the second half.
