Michelle Obama Has Hilarious Texts With Her Mom About Grammys

Of course, Michelle was one of the biggest stars of the night, taking the stage during Alicia Keys' opening monologue alongside Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, and Jada Pinkett Smith to talk about the impact music has made on her life.

Michelle Obama has revealed her mother's hilariously deadpan response to her surprise Grammys appearance - in which she suggested the former FLOTUS is not a "real star".

Mrs Obama made a surprise appearance on stage at the awards on February 10, alongside Lady Gaga, Jada Pinkett Smith, Jennifer Lopez and host Alicia Keys.

"I guess you were a hit at the Grammys", Robinson, who quietly lived in the White House during former President Barack Obama's two terms, wrote her famous daughter. Her daughter asked mom if she had watched.

"And I AM A real star.by the way.", she wrote.

"Moms know how to keep you humble don't they lol", commented one user, while others suggested Michelle's mother may have been miffed that she wasn't taken for the show.

Obama wrote about her modest Chicago upbringing in her memoir, Becoming, which also details how Robinson resisted offers to move into the White House before finally agreeing for the sake of her granddaughters. Tonight in Phoenix, I shared this text thread from my mom from #Grammys night, and I just had to share it with all of you. Obama insisted she told her mom the news.

"Music shows us that all of it matters, every story, every voice, every note, in every song". 'I was anxious about my grandkids'.

Obama laughed - in emoji form - at her mom's joke. And I just thought that that's an unnatural way for a little 2nd grader to go to school.
