Joy Behar Under Fire After Photo of Her in Blackface Resurfaces

In the show, Behar showed her colleagues and the studio audience a photograph of herself with curly hair when she was 29.

Upon seeing the photo, her co-hosts appeared visibly shocked at what they were looking at. Behar said that she had dressed up as "a handsome African woman".

"Are you my auntie, Joy?" "In 1980, when I was a 19-year-old undergraduate in college, some friends suggested we attend a party dressed like rappers we listened to at the time, like Kurt's Blood, and perform a song. I went as a attractive African woman".

"You mean blackface?" Symoné responded. She says that the hair was her own and that she had dressed as a "beautiful African woman" for Halloween.

Democratic Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam admitted to darkening his face as part of a Michael Jackson costume after pictures from his 1984 medical school yearbook page surfaced showing two individuals, one dressed in blackface and the other in a KKK costume.

In October, NBC host Megyn Kelly was canned from the network after comments concerning people dressing up as characters and celebrities of differing races on Halloween that critics decried as "racist".

"I don't see how that is racist on Halloween", said Kelly, remarking on a cast member from Bravo's Real Housewives of NY getting into trouble for dressing up as legendary singer Diana Ross.

Fox News host Laura Ingraham said that accusing Behar of racism would only feed into today's growing PC culture. Moments later, Symoné said, "I love it though". She said she wore darker makeup and went as a "beautiful African woman".

Another added: "Megan Kelly was ripped apart and fired from her job for asking a hypothetical question about it!"

Messages seeking comment were not returned from Behar's agent and the ABC program.

Behar has yet to address the recently resurfaced photo at the time of this writing. "That's exactly what Joy Behar did".
