The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) released a statement about the January 12 incident in East Cleveland on Wednesday.

Footage shows the dad bringing his baby aboard the train in a carrier before setting the infant down in a seat near another passenger.

The man stepped off the train to smoke a cigarette before it departed.

Multiple surveillance videos from the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCTA) show the man walk into a stopped train auto and putting a vehicle seat onto a train's seat.

The dad runs towards the train but doesn't make it on before the doors shut.

Turns out, the man underestimated how much time he had because shortly after he left, the train pulled out of the station.

According to Daily Mail, a passenger noticed that the train was about to begin moving and attempted to alert the father.

The baby was safely reunited with the father at the station.

Neither the baby nor the passengers were in any danger during the indent, RTA officials say.
