Master an ever-growing roster of diverse Legends, deep tactical squad play and bold new innovations that level up the Battle Royale experience-all within a rugged world where anything goes. It's a small price to pay for a battle royale game that's already received near universal adulation, and has already racked over a million unique players.

Apex Legends, the anticipated free-to-play first-person shooter from Titanfall 2 developer Respawn Entertainment, is out now on the PlayStation 4.

Respawn revealed in a recent interview with Eurogamer that the team is not now working on Titanfall 3 after announcing its latest free-to-play spin-off Apex Legends. Instead, Respawn will officially release information on Apex Legends during a livestream today beginning at 2pm CT. Legends include Bloodhound, a tracker who can see recent enemy activity on the map and Lifeline, a battlefield medic who can protect teammates and revive them when they're close to death.

Similar to a game like Overwatch, each character in Apex Legends has a set of abilities that are exclusive to them. Is it smarter to head straight for the most valuable loot and risk early conflict with other teams, or make for one of the outlying areas to plot an attack and let other squads pick each other off?

Respawn has confirmed that it isn't working on Titanfall 3 (for now), but this game will keep the franchise alive in the meantime.

Finally, Apex Legends will have purchasable characters. Additional seasons will be released in the future, with different themes and new content as well as Legends, skins, and weapons. Although the disappointing news for some regarding the franchise is the rumor that Titanfall 3 isn't now in development, and this game is what we're getting instead (and it doesn't allow you to get into any actual mechs - certainly a sticking point for some).
