A bench of Chief Justice Rajendra Menon and Justice V. Kameswar Rao rejected the Public Interest Litigation filed by Pooja Mahajan, a Delhi-based fashion designer through her counsel Arun Maitri.

In his complaint, Ojha had named Kher, who plays the role of Singh, as well as Akshaye Khanna, who plays Singh's media advisor Sanjaya Baru, on whose book the movie is based upon.

The Accidental Prime Minister is the biographical movie which is helmed by Vijay Ratnakar Gutte and has been penned down by Mayank Tewari.

The plea said the trailer violated Section 416 of the Indian Penal Code as impersonation of a living character or living persons is not permissible in law. Ever since the trailer of The Accidental Prime Minister was released on YouTube, it has created a buzz in the industry.

The film is scheduled for release on January 11.

It was previously reported that the court has admitted the case and fixed 8 January to hear the case in Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate court. Ojha claimed that the film's trailer had hurt his sentiments. The actor is in top form and you wish that he does more films.

The petitioner had alleged in the high court that provisions of the Cinematograph Act were being misused and the film producer has released the trailer affecting the image of the office of the prime minister and giving a bad name to it at the national and global level.

Apart from the political jibes, in Delhi, the youth wing of Shiromani Akali Dal urged cinemas not to show the film, saying it would defame both Manmohan Singh and the country across the world.

Advocate Sangram Patnaik, appearing for film producers Sunil Bohra and Dhaval Gada, had told the high court that the plea was not maintainable and how the production house was not made a party in it.
