Nokia 8.1 Plus is the company’s most modern-looking phone yet

The Nokia 9 sounds like a higher-end design than the Nokia 8.1 Plus, with a higher model number, an in-screen fingerprint reader, and a insane five-camera setup on the back. Since the phone largely looks like the Nokia 8.1, the report claims that the leaked device is the upcoming Nokia 8.1 Plus. It's basically punching a hole in the corner to fit the selfie camera.

If these renders of the alleged Nokia 8.1 Plus end up being accurate, HMD Global (along with many other smartphone OEMs) are going to be using this same technique for their phone.

As for its availability in Malaysia, the Nokia 8.1 will be heading to retailers in Malaysia on 18 January with a price tag of RM 1699. Notch designs would cut out a big chunk of the display for camera placement, but most of those cutouts were bigger than they needed to be (probably because manufacturers wanted to copy the sensor-packed iPhone X design).

The renders also show us it will have a 3.5mm headphone port, a USB Type-C connector and will be part of the Android One program as well.

Nokia 8 Sirocco users using Android 9 Pie will enjoy improvements to their smartphone experience based on their daily phone use. There is also a fingerprint sensor on the back, shutting down the possibilities of the device getting an in-screen fingerprint reader.

That back does have dual cameras with ZEISS lenses and a fingerprint scanner at the bottom.

The renders have been provided by 91Mobiles in collaboration with OnLeaks. We'll let you know when we hear more.
