A West Ham United source has rubbished rumours that the club are interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez, according to the Claret and Hugh website.

Shelvey has only made 12 appearances for Newcastle this season and this week went to Barcelona for treatment for a thigh problem.

West Ham, 10th in the Premier League, host fifth-placed Arsenal on Saturday (12:30 GMT) and Pellegrini expects Arnautovic to play.

Marko Arnautovic wants to leave West Ham in the January transfer window amid interest from an unnamed Chinese Super League club.

West Ham have had some miserable failures in attack for the club over the last decade, with the likes of Mido, Benni McCarthy, Marouane Chamakh and Simone Zaza all struggling upon arrival.

Manuel Pellegrini, the West Ham manager, outlined his determination to keep the Austria forward at the London Stadium but Arnautovic's brother Danijel, who acts as his representative, issued a statement saying that the player wants to leave.

This season, the 29-year-old has netted eight times in 17 games to add to his growing reputation.

Wilson may be the answer to the forward search and he's proving this season he can tear it up in the Premier League.

He knows the West Ham fans love him and he has a special connection with them, but things move on, this is the world of sport, and he hopes they can understand. "They paid £20m for him, which is nothing in the current market", read the statement. It is close to double what they paid for him."He wants to go to a new market and challenge for titles".

"Players of his quality and other players like Declan Rice, Felipe Anderson, other clubs will want them but that is one thing. At the moment we have no news about him", Pellegrini told reporters on Thursday. Marko in this moment is a player of our team. I don't think they will go. He will give 100 per cent for West Ham.

He said: They are rumours.

Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: "Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 11 away games against West Ham in all competitions, but if there is to be a victor at the London Stadium I feel it will be the hosts, as I still have my reservations about the Gunners defensive capabilities".
