The White Sox are doing everything they can to entice free agent Manny Machado.

Before the Philadelphia Phillies contingent of Andy MacPhail, Matt Klentak, Gabe Kapler and John Middleton travel to Las Vegas, Nevada, this weekend to meet with Bryce Harper and his agent, the club will reportedly amp up its offer to fellow superstar free agent, Manny Machado.

Bryce Harper #34 of the Washington Nationals reacts after hitting a single in the seventh inning against the Los Angeles Dodgers during game five of the National League Division Series at Nationals Park on October 13, 2016 in Washington, DC.

The expectation around the baseball world has been that Machado will sign first, before Harper.

In the end, dollars, years and other factors will likely be the most important things determining where Machado signs a long-term deal, but the Sox are leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit.

Finally, all we can do as fans is await the decision, and hopefully Mr. Levine is correct and it will come sooner rather than later. Levine reported that momentum is building for the White Sox.

The primary reason the Phils have prioritized Machado this offseason is that he's a difference-maker offensively and also defensively at third base.

Without the Yankees getting involved, it's hard to see either the Phillies or White Sox meeting Machado's asking price, especially if they're not close to the $325 million or more that Machado reportedly wants.
