Thirteen-year-old Jayme Closs, who went missing nearly three months ago from her Wisconsin home, was located alive Thursday evening, according to the Barron County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said the sheriff's office in Douglas County, about 110 kilometres north of Barron County, located the girl.

The board chairman of Gordon said Jayme was found at Eau Claire Acres, a development located about 70 miles away from her home.

A press conference is set to take place at 10 a.m. on Friday with the sheriff's department in Barron.

Barron County Sheriff's Department said earlier that the finding of Closs was a false alert.

Jayme's grandfather, Robert Naiberg, said, "Everybody is so happy".

Sheriff Fitzgerald said she will be reunited with relatives Thursday night.

The following Wednesday, the deaths of James and Denise Closs were officially ruled as homicide by a medical examiner.

Jayme Closs was taken from her home in Barron, Wisconsin on October 15, after the teenager's parents were shot dead in their home.

"Finally we want to especially thank the family for their support and patience while this case was ongoing", The department posted on Facebook.

Jayme was missing since October 15 when her parents were murdered in their home.

Detectives pursued thousands of tips, watched dozens of surveillance videos and conducted numerous searches in the effort to find Jayme. From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU!'

Nobody in the family has seen Closs yet and she is still with law enforcement. The statement did not say where Jayme was found or give any further information about the suspect. Every day there was hope.

911 logs released days later appeared to indicate that the cell phone of Closs' mother, 46-year-old Denise Closs, placed the call and that her father, 56-year-old James Closs, answered the door and was the first to be fatally shot. "I've always been a glass half-full kind of guy", Fitzgerald said at the time.
