"As you know very well I am not in control of the transfer market", Sarri told a press conference today.

Asked about Morata, who has been linked with a number of clubs, Sarri said: "Of course if Morata goes to another club we need a replacement".

Chelsea have pressed the accelerator in the chase to sign on-loan Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain and held talks with the striker's brother on Thursday evening.

"I think that is not professional because they are talking about a player under contract with Chelsea", Sarri said. I think that he can do better.

"Then it depends on the club decision".

Sarri is demanding a replacement if Cesc Fabregas' move to Monaco materialises and, now, also if Alvaro Morata is allowed to leave this month. I am happy with the player because he is improving, improving a lot in the defensive phase.

Sarri's team is not yet capable of a title push, and while he doesn't believe that we are a million miles away, he has publicly stated the need for Chelsea to sign two players before the end of the month.

"At the moment Morata is here, so I think he has to think only to play".

"Willian for us is really very important".

The Blues are now being linked with a host of potential reinforcements this month as Maurizio Sarri considers bolstering his squad ahead of the second half of the season.

"At the moment Morata is here, so I think he has to think only to play".

The Blues were beaten 1-0 by Tottenham in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final and have been criticised for their struggles in front of goal.

"We need to improve in the box".

He was directly involved in 20 goals across all competitions last season and his improvement in the next few years would be fascinating to see under Sarri's tutelage.
