Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has refused to confirm or deny their interest in Alvaro Morata.

Morata wants to return to Spain after a hard time in England.

He's scored nine goals in 24 appearances so far this season, including a double in the 2-0 FA Cup victory over Nottingham Forest at the weekend, but it's possible that a loan move to rediscover his best form could be seen as the best option for both parties.

"The only think I'm thinking about is the upcoming match against Levante", he said.

'I can't confirm or deny anything because coaches wait to see what the club can do.

"Some players want more minutes, some could be sold by the club, some could arrive".

Spanish radio station Cope have reported that Atletico's chief deal maker Andrea Bertra has travelled to London for talks with Chelsea.

Morata has been linked with AC Milan and Sevilla, but now Atletico Madrid have joined the race to sign the Spaniard and end his Chelsea nightmare.

Morata has been linked with a return to La Liga this winter, with Sevilla among the clubs to have registered and interest in the former Real Madrid forward, though the club has admitted that a deal for the Spain worldwide would be "very, very complicated".

On one side you have a striker who did perform for Chelsea, but his issues off the field left his position at the club untenable, while on the other there's Morata, who has been a real disappointment considering the money we paid for him.
