The long-running CBS show is concluding with upcoming season 15, the network announced Thursday - and an "epic final season" is promised.

The series tells the story of a specialized group of Federal Bureau of Investigation agents who profile criminals, attempting to unravel their psychology in order to anticipate their next moves. "It speaks to everything we do best, which is air quality television".

"Criminal Minds", produced by ABC Studios and CBS Television Studios, is now in production on its 14th season, which brought the long-running drama past the 300-episode mark back in October. ABC Studios produces in association with CBS Television Studios.

The CBS drama series has been renewed for a final, 10-episode 15th season, which will shoot directly after the end of the current season of the show.

The long-running crime drama about a group of Federal Bureau of Investigation behavioral profilers recently celebrated its 300th episode. The final arc will also feature a "worthy adversary" for the team. "As long as we have heroes who want to keep chasing the bad guys I feel like we could keep going, and going, and going".

"That won't be shooting until the spring, so I have some time to think about it, but the hope is to be able to honor all of that history, all of those heroes who have come and gone".

Even so, Messer expects the series finale to be a "tearjerker". I also don't know if I would've anticipated that we'd have 325 episodes by the time it's all said and done. "So the jet won't crash, I can tell you that".
