Ubisoft Teases "Far Cry" Announcement at Game Awards 2018

2018 has been such a huge year for games that it is easy to forget that Far Cry 5 actually came out this year. However, we will be seeing the full reveal tonight during The Game Awards, which unfortunately doesn't kick off until 1:30 AM for those of us in the UK.

At the end of Far Cry 5 if you got the main, I suppose now canonical ending, a great big nuclear bomb erupts, killing numerous people in Hope County. Some players were turned right the fuck off by that nihilistic ending ("What the hell was the point of all this, then?"); others embraced the inherent bleakness of the whole thing ("Haha, there was really no point to any of this, then!"). It shows a few familiar locations, as it seems to mirror the original cover art for Far Cry 5 - the church on the left, especially.

The Far Cry New Dawn trailer debuted at The Game Awards and looks, slightly, like Far Cry's prehistoric venture Far Cry Primal. Clutching what looks like a make-shift, saw-slinging crossbow, the sullen protagonist appears to be roaming around an incredibly cheery and picturesque post-apocalyptic landscape.

It definitely looks to be an interesting twist on the series, and we are looking forward to finding out more tomorrow night.

A direct sequel to Far Cry 5?

Each year, Geoff Keighley's Game Awards gets bigger and bigger.
