O2 users across Wrexham affected by signal outage

The network has not provided any information on when the service will be back up and running. It later said in a separate tweet that voice calls were working properly.

Phone calls and texts have been partially restored, but the networks involved can't yet offer 4G data.

According to the website DownDetector, problems with the network began to appear at just after 4am today - Thursday, December 6.

"One of our third party suppliers has identified a global software issue in their system which has impacted us", O2 said in a statement.

Customers have been encouraged to use WiFi whenever possible if they need internet access before the problems have been fixed. A wise move even when the O2 service is up.

Customers on other mobile networks such as Sky, Tesco and Giffgaff have also been affected by the problem because their networks use O2 services. The outage tool - which allows customers to check if their area is affected - was also down.

The outage also has serious implications for places that rely upon the O2 network for real-time informational services, as reported by the Independent. They're now working hard to resolve the issue so we would imagine it won't be too long before its back up. Our technical teams are working extremely hard to resolve this. The difficulties were first reported at about 05:30 this morning.
