Flutter could, perhaps, do the same for Google and Google Cloud. Google's Files Go file-management app found a place too in the Hidden Gems section along with How to Draw Comics, Unfold, and others.

The first beta release was debuted at the Mobile World Congress in February and the final developer preview was shown off at Google Developer Days China in late September.

"Additionally, Flutter's use of the Dart programming language makes Flutter significantly faster than alternative cross-platform toolkits (or, feasibly, programs developed without the use of said toolkits.) Google touts it as "[being] able to support glitch-free, jank-free graphics at the native speed of your device", and compiling to native 32 or 64-bit ARM code for iOS and Android. However, even in its beta state, companies like CapitalOne have already used Flutter to build their apps for customers. Google will be pushing a server-side update to the app later on that enables the Pixel sounds and visuals, but until then the app is basically just an empty shell with a button that doesn't do anything - this clearly isn't meant to be available just yet.

Flutter, he added, will "enable designers to deliver their full creative vision without being forced to water it down due to limitations of the underlying framework".

"Developers are forced to choose between either building the same app multiple times for multiple operating systems, or to accept a lowest common denominator solution that trades native speed and accuracy for portability", he said.

However, Google touts unique features of Flutter such as stateful hot reload, which allows developers to make changes to their apps and see those changes in real time, without having to completely restart the app.

Also, 2Dimensions announced the availability of Flare, a new tool for building vector animations, that can be embedded directly into the Flutter app. Both of these features are new in the 1.0 version, and Google promises improvements to both are in the works.

As part of today's announcement, Cheetah maintained that, despite the negative appearance of Google Play's decision, File Manager was "an immaterial app" for the company, accounting for less than $58,000 in the third quarter, or 0.03 percent of the company's $197 million of revenue in the period.

Another bet on Flutter is Nevercode, a tool for automating the build and packaging process of Flutter apps.
