You can find the titles in the Free To Watch section of YouTube's Movies and Shows channel.

Among the multiple titles available are the original Terminator, the Rocky series, Legally Blonde, and the classic Pink Panther films. The films include commercial breaks.

YouTube Director of Product Management Rohit Dhawan says that they're still experimenting.

The site, home to billions of hours of cat videos as well as many semi-legal and illegal bootleg movies, has started allowing entire, well-known movies to be streamed for free, with ads peppered throughout.

As AdAge reports, YouTube made a decision to introduce free, ad-supported movie streams because it's what users want, with Rohit Dhawan, director of product management at YouTube, stating "We saw this opportunity based on user demand, beyond just offering paid movies".

YouTube did not give the details of the deals with studios and advertisers.

You can already buy and rent digital movies through Google Play Movies & TV, purchases that also show up in YouTube if you're signed in with the same account. Walmart's streaming service Vudu, as well as Tubi, offer their own selection of free films. It's safe to assume that will be the norm, but there's also an opportunity for advertisers to sponsor specific videos and grab all the slots for itself.
