What to expect from Jimmy Butler in first game with Sixers

The circumstances [were] that we brought in a player like Jimmy Butler, and as I've said from Day 1, it was gonna be my call on how I handle this.

"I don't think that's a problem", he said of sharing the ball. "And I think it will". All I want to do is compete and help my team win. "It's my job to get the best out of him".

Marc Stein of the New York Times, in his National Basketball Association newsletter, posited that the Sixers "remain highly interested" in Cleveland Cavaliers sharpshooter Kyle Korver, which makes plenty of sense. The Sixers have been much better on the defensive end of the floor, where they rank 9th in defensive rating, as opposed to 21st in offensive rating, and there's no statistical evidence based on this season that Butler will improve Philadelphia defensively. He expressed confidence that none of his past teammates had issues with him. This should pair well with Simmons, the Sixers' primary facilitator. "I have to love where I'm at and have a great chance to win a championship". You know how I go about what I go about. "It was important to us to go get a superstar, to go get some young talent to help make that next step in achieving a championship".

"I'm not looking, I'm listening and [general manager Andy Elisburg] and I are ... we've been doing this all the time".

Making a dramatic midseason addition like this comes with complications. It's certainly a good trade for the Wolves from a chemistry point of view, as Butler was obviously a major disruption to the team.

On Tuesday, Saric said he was excited to play with new teammates like Karl-Anthony Towns.

"The amusing part about it is all you hear is 'sources say, ' " Butler said.

En route to finally forcing a trade away from the Timberwolves to the 76ers, the All-Star forward's dominant personality was on full display in a saga spanning over a month. Thibodeau said getting good players was a priority but said the pick portion was important, too.

Butler's first basket came just over two minutes into the game, when he took a pass from Embiid on the left wing, cut to the basket and finished an acrobatic layup. And just expect it's going to be dripped in over a long period of time where he feels comfortable on both sides of the ball. "We'll find a way to make things work".
