Writing about Kohli's latest comments, Times of India journalist Dwaipayan Dutta wonders if the cricket captain is "losing perspective" off the field.

"Over-rated batsman and personally I see nothing special in his batting". He was reading out mean messages to him and responding as he went along. Why are you living in our country and loving other countries?

Kohli was in the eye of a storm during the launch of his mobile application when he told a fan that he should not be living in India if he can not like Indian cricketers.

Swashbuckling Indian batsman Virat Kohli became subject to a fresh controversy on Tuesday when he suggested that Indian cricket fans who like foreign batsmen more than the domestic ones should go and live in foreign countries.

The Indian cricketer said that he didn't mind the fan not liking him but he didn't like it when people live in one country and like things from other countries. He added that the fan should get his "priorities straight".

India captain Virat Kohli wants to leave no stones unturned when it comes to the team's preparations in the lead up to Cricket World Cup 2019 even if the decisions involved are going to take the sheen out of Indian Premier League (IPL).

Since Kohli's video went viral, fans have expressed their staunch views over the 30-year-old's statements calling him arrogant and obnoxious. "I loved watching Sachin, Viru (Virender Sehwag), Sourav (Ganguly), VVS (Laxman), Rahul (Dravid) bat but also loved Mark Waugh, Brian Lara and so many others", BCCI treasurer Anirudh Chaudhary was quoted saying by the Times of India.

Kohli has been rested for India's ongoing T20I series against West Indies, which they have already sealed 2-0 with one game to play.
