Mass Shooting Reported At Borderline Bar & Grill In Thousand Oaks, California

United States fire department officials have reported multiple injuries in a shooting at a bar and dance hall in southern California.

Borderline, which bills itself as the "biggest dance floor in town", had been hosting an event called "College Country Night" when the shooting occurred.

Police said they responded to the Borderline Bar and Grill in Thousand Oaks, California, about 40 miles west of Los Angeles, just before midnight local time after multiple shots were fired.

Police said that at least 30 shots had been fired.

Ventura County Sheriff's Office Captain Garo Kuredjian said it is "still an active scene".

A witness told KABC-TV that there were many young people "having a great time" in the bar when a man entered and "started shooting".

They said that soon after the gunman opened fire, victims were running to a nearby petrol station to get help.

Dozens of police cars and emergency service vehicles were spotted at the scene in Thousand Oaks around 11.20pm local time on Wednesday. I look up - the security guard is dead.

It has not yet been revealed the extent of the injuries. The witness said the suspect had a handgun and then he also saw the smoke bombs and the guard being shot.
