Judge: Georgia must ease rule for voters proving citizenship

- Former University of Georgia running back, Heisman Trophy victor, and College Football Hall of Herschel Walker has announced his support for Brian Kemp, the Republican candidate in Georgia's tight race to be the next governor.

Among that "onslaught", Winfrey blasted Republican ads she'd seen in her hotel room casting Abrams as too radical for the state, calling it "noise...created to confound you with fear".

The 64-year-old media titan shared a video on her Instagram page holding a clipboard and knocking on the door of a voter named Denise.

Abrams has been largely focused on turning out communities which don't usually turn out in high numbers during midterm elections, such as black voters and young people.

"It's my very first time ever canvassing for anybody, and it has been a really interesting experience because when you knock on a door, you don't know what people are going to do or say or how they're going to react", she said. Obama is rallying with Abrams at Morehouse College, a widely respected historically black college.

"This is Georgia!" he exclaimed to applause.

Kemp - who, as Georgia secretary of state, is also in charge of elections and voter registration - faced backlash after it was reported his office had put more than 53,000 voter applications on hold, almost 70% of which are from African-Americans, because they failed to clear the state's controversial "exact match" standard. Trump announced he would campaign in Macon, Georgia at 4 p.m. the same day.

The "exact match" protocol requires information on voter registration applications to precisely match information on file with the state's Department of Motor Vehicles or the Social Security Administration. If a person's voter registration form differs from government documents - even by a hyphen or a misspelling - their registration form is considered suspect.

Kemp and Democratic Stacey Abrams are locked in a tight race that offers a stark choice in a state accustomed to business-minded, centrist governors. President Trump will appear with Kemp on Sunday.

"I heard Oprah's in town today", Pence said.

Noting that he heard Winfrey was in the Peach State, Pence said, "I got a message for all of Stacey Abrams' liberal Hollywood friends: this ain't Hollywood".

And, if Kemp has his way, a so-called "religious liberty" bill will pass into law which could dry up Georgia's "Hollywood" money.
