Republicans and Democrats on Capitol Hill will be scrutinizing Ivanka Trump's personal email use in the White House in light of new revelations that she sent hundreds of messages about government business from that account previous year.

Notably, prior reporting has suggested that the National Security Agency - the primary federal agency in charge of signals intelligence - explicitly warned administration officials including Kushner that using personal emails for government purposes was unsafe, and could possibly cross-contaminate official channels of communication.

The House Oversight Committee plans to investigate whether Ivanka Trump violated federal law by using a personal email account for government business, the panel's incoming chairman, Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., said Tuesday. He called her "Crooked Hillary" and led chants of "Lock her up!".

What did Trump say about Clinton's emails?

Still, current and former White House officials have said it was characteristic of a repeated blurring of the lines between her government work and other aspects of her life, which used to include her namesake licensing and apparel businesses.

Ms Trump stopped using her personal address for government correspondence after she was informed that she should not be doing so, the official said.

Austin Evers, the executive director of American Oversight, said in a statement, "The president's family is not above the law, and there are serious questions that Congress should immediately investigate".

Ivanka Trump, daughter and senior adviser to President Donald Trump, sent hundreds of emails using a personal account, according to a Washington Post story published Monday. "There should be some kind of investigation", either by Congress or the White House ethics office, Blumenthal told CNN. Trump himself brought forth "lock her up" chants November 10 at a rally and the presidential race has been over for two years now! But supporters of President Trump are taking a variety of approaches to downplay the significance of Ivanka Trump's private account.

Mirijanian said Trump "retained" all the emails on her official account after reviewing them with the White House counsel and explaining the issue to congressional leaders.

Trump said she did not know the details of the records rules, the Post reported, citing sources it said had knowledge of her reaction.

However, in almost 100 of the emails, she reportedly corresponded about official government business, though she and her representatives maintain that many of those emails were in response to people contacting Ivanka first. Following the discovery, Lowell forwarded emails that he had determined were related to official business to Ivanka Trump's government account. She admitted it was "irresponsible" for Ivanka to do this--leading to Williams saying "Thank you, somebody spoke the truth on The Five!"--but said they're not comparable and Clinton kept trying to "minimize" it. Ivanka Trump is a White House senior adviser.
