HBO announced on Wednesday morning that the eighth and final season of its fantasy juggernaut Game of Thrones will premiere in April 2019. Every betrayal. Every risk.

To promote the final episodes, HBO will launch #FortheThrone, "a multi-phased, global marketing campaign that will unfold over the months leading into the final season". The network did not reveal a specific date for the final season's premiere. Every fight. Every sacrifice.

While few details are revealed, the video shows key moments from past series and lets fans know when they can expect to see the much anticipated final season, which will be broadcast in the United Kingdom on Sky Atlantic and Now TV.

Like Maisie Williams, Emilia Clarke and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau also commemorated their final days of shooting with bittersweet goodbyes to a series they've been with since the beginning.

Game of Thrones' return will be eight years after the first episode aired on HBO in April 2011.

If you thought Game of Thrones was about to make your Tuesday memorable, we're sorry to say it is not going to happen.

It'll be especially welcome news after season 7 saw fans have to wait until July for the new season, when all the prior seasons had dropped in April or late March.
