'Fortnite' partners with the National Football League to bring team jerseys, gliders, more

The jersey is purchased in the Battle Royale store inside the game using virtual bucks. Thirty-two NFL team uniforms will be available, but there will be 33 new skins in total-there's an extra uniform that's unique to Fortnite's football squad. What is it that makes this game so immensely popular, and how did it come to be?

Are you a fan of both Fortnite and the NFL? There will also be football-themed emotes, harvesting tools, and gliders, though we haven't gotten a glimpse of those yet.

Epic Games teased Fortnite players up for a colorful Cube event Sunday, and delivered one of the most theatrical moments the free battle royale game has seen so far.

With the USA football season already at the halfway point, Epic Games announced a partnership with the NFL to bring team outfits to Fortnite. You'll also be able to add a number to the outfit you pick.

Brian Rolapp, chief media and business officer at the National Football League, said the partnership represents a great opportunity for millions of National Football League fans who are Fortnite players to express their fandom inside the game while at the same time exposing their brand to countless others.

Some of the NFL's biggest stars are avid "Fortnite" players, including Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster and Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr.

The NFL deal is the first time that Fortnite has reached a partnership with an outside company to bring branded skins to the game.
