Facebook website, app down for users around the world

- Facebook users around the world were reporting that the social networking site was down on Monday afternoon. An outage has just hit Facebook, Facebook Messenger, and Oculus, with WhatsApp's functionality affected as well.

Those attempting to log on to the site were greeted with a message that said, "Sorry, something went wrong". "We're working on it and we'll get it fixed as soon as we can".

According to downdetector.com, which detects and documents technology fails, Facebook's outage is mostly affecting users in North America, South America and parts of Western Europe.

When KAKE News reached out to the Facebook public relations department, a spokesperson responded via email, "Thanks for the inquiry".
