Instead, PC gamers can acquire a free copy of the game and they can keep it forever.

In order to clarify the situation and avoid as much confusion as possible, it's important to note that the entire base game of Destiny 2 will be free for players to acquire on PC on Battle.net all the way through the aforementioned date, and fans will be able to keep it thereafter. Will you check out the game now that's it doesn't cost a dime?

If you want to try Destiny 2 and you don't already have the Battle.net launcher, you can download it right here. New Battle.net accounts created after 11 a.m. PDT on November 2 (today), will be required to enable Blizzard's SMS Protect before claiming the game. Now, the MMO-like shooter is considered one of the better "live service" titles on the market, thanks to a few well-received DLC packs and a wide array of free content patches. After less than a year on the market, Destiny 2 is now available for the low, low price of $0. All you need to do is log into Battle.net and you'll see a prompt for a free gift.

The rather extraordinary giveaway was announced just now, ahead of BlizzCon 2018's opening ceremony, by Steve Cotton, Destiny 2 game director at developer Bungie. Additionally, the Forsaken multiplayer mode Gambit will be free on PS4, Xbox One, and PC from November 9th to the 11th.

This kind of tactic isn't anything new for Activision-Blizzard, who has held multiple free demos, trials and initiatives to attract new players.
