Daniel Ricciardo says he will contest the final two races of the Formula 1 season after suggesting Red Bull's 2019 recruit Pierre Gasly could complete the campaign in his auto. That has enabled us to go head to head, lock out the front row, pole position, second position, front row of the grid, and win the grand prix in a dominant fashion.

After a season filled with disappointments, Ricciardo was ecstatic when he gained pole position, and the Verstappen camp was left angered by his celebrations.

The next race is in Brazil next weekend, before the season concludes with the Abu Dhabi GP.

"But Vettel could win with his auto, Ricciardo could win with his vehicle - I could win with his vehicle".

"I don't think "frustration" is the word any more", Ricciardo told TV crews after the race. "I don't have any more words". That's what I'm about, I ain't about that other life.

Ricciardo will join Renault for next season and on Monday following his retirement in Mexico City had suggested that his replacement for 2019 in Pierre Gasly could drive the auto instead.

"So it's been frustrating, I won't lie".

"We're obviously hopeful that the Honda, with the progress they're making, will put us into a situation where we're more regularly able to compete".

'But I owe it to myself and to all the guys that work their butts off to give it two more cracks before we see each other off. 'I'll let Gasly drive it, I'm done with it'.

"What's going on social world, just wanted to say G'day. and firstly address a few things from Mexico", said Ricciardo in a brief video. I just needed a few days off, really.

Team boss Christian Horner later acknowledged that Ricciardo, who has retired eight times in total this year, has had a hard run.

Verstappen has come of age in the second half of the season and could finish as high as third in the standings with a strong showing in the final two races.
