If you were to say before 2018 that Dez Bryant would be playing with Drew Brees down in New Orleans, everyone would call you insane. Before the season began, the Baltimore Ravens put a three-year offer on the table.

Although Bryant participated in the Saints practice Friday, he had not been expected to play Sunday against the Bengals. During the season, he and the Cleveland Browns were on and off. "I've just asked him a lot of questions and it's just cool to play with a guy like that".

The Saints officially listed Bryant as limited in Friday's practice with an ankle injury. Going forward, though, he's not changing the way he goes about his business.

"I'm always gonna be me, you know, who I am". I've always been a good guy. Payton said Bryant is perhaps five pounds heavier than his ideal playing weight, which would be common among players who did not go through a training camp. But that's normal, Payton tells NFL.com's Herbie Teope. "It would be hard for me to comment not having a practice yet. We'll begin that process today".

With wide receivers Cameron Meredith and Ted Ginn on injured reserve, the Saints' only active receivers to catch passes this season are Michael Thomas, Tre'Quan Smith and Austin Carr.

Thomas, who is New Orleans' leading receiver, said he has been following Bryant's career.
