The draw extends Liverpool's unbeaten start to the league campaign, with Jurgen Klopp's side having previously drawn at Chelsea and at home to champions Manchester City, while winning 2-1 at Tottenham.

Liverpool were a threat, undoubtedly. "We got a point, we deserved a point and we could have had more". For example, van Dijk found himself through on goal, but Leno made himself big to block the chance. Unlike most games this season, the Gunners came out full of energy and intent in the first half and maintained a high level throughout the 90 minutes. Roberto Firmino hit the woodwork and Sadio Mane was wrongly flagged offside for the follow-up, while Virgil van Dijk's looped header kissed the post in first-half stoppage time. That's football. If he thought the first situation was offside then I think he was wrong, but it's not going to change and we made more mistakes than the referee.

And Robertson accepts it was frustrating for the Reds to leave Arsenal without what would have been a third consecutive win in the Premier League. Under Unai Emery, they finally have one.

If work ethic, pressing and intensity have been hallmarks of Emery's early impact on Arsenal's play - forged during meticulous and high-energy training sessions - then so too is the spirit he has forged in the camp. The diminutive holding midfielder has settled into life in the Premier League easily.

"It shows a bit the squad's character right now, also of the fans", he said of the fight Arsenal showed.

Despite his team's uncharacteristically bold start, Emery still managed to engineer an urgency in the second half that, in little more than three months at Arsenal, has become the animated Spaniard's calling card.

Realistically, a draw for Liverpool at Arsenal should be a good result.
