Ariana Grande Apologizes to Ex Ricky Alvarez Over 'Thank U, Next' Lyric

But Grande put to rest that she has any animosity towards Davidson in a new song called "Thank You, Next".

"On Saturday night, roughly 30 minutes before her erstwhile fiancé Pete Davidson clocked into work at Saturday Night Live, Ariana Grande released into the ether, "thank u, next" -a petty bop seemingly aimed square at his tender heart".

Taking to Instagram and responding to his post, she wrote: 'HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH IM SORRY U GOT THE WORST LINE.

While referencing Ricky, who she dated from 2015 to 2016, Ariana sings: "Wrote some songs about Ricky/ Now I listen and laugh".

"Thank U, Next" is more than a breakup anthem, and listeners can't get enough of the song's message of positivity and empowerment.

"Even nearly got married, and for Pete I'm so thankful".

This morning, before TMZ revealed Mac Miller's cause of death, Grande tweeted a line from "thank u, next", writing "one taught me luhhh".

"She taught me love/She taught me patience/How she handles pain/That s-- amazing", Grande croons.

One source tells HollywoodLife that Pete Davidson is over the failed relationship jokes and it's safe to say Ari will be happy to hear that.

Davidson also seemed to address the song during the most recent episode of Saturday Night Live in his Weekend Update segment. While most remember him for being involved with the whole donut-licking situation, he did get a mention on a past song, Moonlight, off her album Dangerous Woman.
