Deliveries typically arrive in five to eight business days.

And more than three-million items will be eligible for same-day delivery during the holiday season for Prime members. The offer covers every product category, and although no end date is listed in the Amazon press release, orders arriving in time for Christmas suggests it will end around December 22 just like Target's offer does.

Amazon Prime members still get two-day shipping, but the promotional free shipping deal is only good for Amazon's 5-8 day shipping speed. There's a feature called AR View, for example - a new augmented reality feature in the Amazon app that allows customers to view products in situ before they purchase. The company is temporarily offering free shipping to all customers-Prime or no-on all purchases, reports USA Today.

If anyone does not have Prime and wants to try it, Amazon is willing to offer free trials even while this free shipping promotion runs its course. This experience is open from November 22 to November 25, with doors open for 24 hours on Black Friday itself.

Amazon has seemingly reacted to pressure from rivals before. Also mentioned was the previous free-delivery threshold on orders larger than $25.

The war for online holiday shoppers is already off to a roaring start, and Amazon is preparing to take the lion's share of online shopping again this season.

Those who subscribe to the service will "have an exclusive 30-minute early access period to all Lightning Deals", Amazon explained. Forrester Research is predicting 14% sales growth online but only 1.7% growth in stores.

Amazon is hoping increase sales after the company's revenue projection for the rest of the year fell below some estimates.
