Amazon in "advanced talks" with three cities for HQ2 as info leaks

Bezos himself said last week that he'd make the final decision guided by intuition: "You immerse yourself in that data but then you make the decision with your heart", he said at a conference in NY last week. The WaPo said discussions with Crystal City were more advanced and included how quickly Amazon would move employees there, which buildings it would occupy, and how an announcement would be made.

Citing an anonymous source familiar with Amazon's plans, the highly-sought-after second headquarters will go to two cities in order to recruit enough tech talent, according the report.

Amazon announced a year ago that the retail giant was looking to open a second headquarters somewhere in North America, bringing with it as many as 50,000 new jobs. The process certainly hasn't been rushed, as it took Amazon until January of 2018 to release their 20 city shortlist.

The Wall Street Journal responded with a story yesterday saying Dallas and NY are still talking with Amazon, too.

Seattle-based Amazon is in talks with JBG Smith Properties JBGS.N about the real estate it owns in Crystal City, while negotiating with Virginia officials on incentives, the report said. Shortly after the Post published its story, Mike Grella, Amazon's economic development director posted on Twitter, "Memo to the genius leaking info about Crystal City, VA as #HQ2 selection. And stop treating the (nondisclosure agreement) you signed like a used napkin".

A judge ruled last week that Pittsburgh and Allegheny County must make public in 30 days the bid submitted to Amazon for HQ2.
