That's an worldwide record for an October opening, Variety reports. Internationally Venom raked in over $125 million making Venom's total box office gain $205,230,000 after only 3 days! And that's without China, where a premiere date is still set to be announced. It holds a 32% rating at Rotten Tomatoes.

But this exceptional box office debut is noteworthy for more reasons than one.

According to estimates Sunday, the two very different films fueled an unusually robust October weekend at the North American box office. The soundtrack for A Star Is Born is now available on all streaming platforms.

Venom has finally got his own movie and though it doesn't feature the cameo from Tom Holland's wall-crawler that we were all hoping for, it's still stuffed full of references to the sinister symbiote's history in the pages of Spider-Man comics.

Taking the No. 2 spot this week is the latest iteration of the "A Star Is Born" story bringing in an estimated $41 million and producing buckets of tears along the way.
