UN Ambassador Nikki Haley Jokes About Getting 'Shiksa' Nickname From Jews

"Actually, when the president found out that I was Indian-American, he asked if I was from the same tribe as Elizabeth Warren", she added. "We have some serious political differences here at home".

"The president called me this morning and gave some really good advice".

"So last year, last year you went with Paul Ryan, who's a boy scout", Haley continued.

During an address to an annual charity dinner in NY on Thursday night (Oct 18), outgoing United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley, the daughter of immigrants from India, recalled the first time President Donald Trump learnt of her heritage.

But Haley later put the jokes aside when she brought up how she's heard both Republicans and Democrats describe their political opponents as "enemies or evil" in what she called "our toxic political environment". Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) for appearing to have greatly exaggerated her Native American heritage, US ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley got in a few jabs of her own Thursday night. And, somewhat amazingly, she emerged nearly entirely unscathed: Trump (and, therefore, his supporters) like her and her overall approval ratings with the general public are also quite good.

Haley showed off her aptitude for keeping a secret last week with a shocking resignation announcement, but she displayed a brand new talent during her speech in New York City on Thursday as she assumed the role of a comedian for the night.

Haley's parents are immigrants from Punjab, India.

"In America, our political opponents are not evil", she pointed out, noting that crimes committed against political opponents in Syria and Sudan are real instances of evil.

On the president's advice for Haley's speech: "He said if I get stuck for laughs, just brag about his accomplishments".

However, her resignation was seen by many as a way for Haley, who has become a highly respected figure, to distance herself from the chaos of the Trump administration so that she can pursue higher office later on. "In North Korea, where American student Otto Warmbier was tortured to death, that was evil".

With the weight of United Nations ambassadorship almost off her shoulders, Nikki Haley seems ready to speak her mind and have some laughs. But, she also knows that there are lots and lots of Republicans who are already done with Trump and, if they aren't right now, likely will be by 2020 and certainly by 2024. "It totally prepared me for being a Republican in NY".
