Although Le'Veon Bell has been planning to report to the Steelers in time to be ready for their October 28 game against the Browns, Pittsburgh team officials and players have not heard anything from the star running back, sources told ESPN.

Whispered about as a trade candidate, Bell reportedly planned to rejoin the Steelers this week in order to accrue a season toward free agency while simultaneously reducing the 16-game wear-and-tear on his body.

Now, it seems that Bell won't be back in Pittsburgh until after the bye.

Le'Veon Bell's relationship with the Pittsburgh Steelers has been an ongoing headline all season. In fact, with the volume of conflicting rumors about Bell's eventual return, everyone should just act like he's never showing up. But that now appears unlikely to happen, according to a new report from ESPN.

Earlier in the month, it was originally reported that Bell meant to return to the team during its Week 7 bye. They previously reported that Bell was rumored to return around the Steelers' bye in week 7.

Bottom line: Bell is looking out for himself.

So Bell could be in for a surprise if/when he shows up, and he may not like what he hears from the Steelers.

Bell has been sitting out the entire season, refusing to sign his franchise tender.

Eventually, Bell has to return, right?
