Selena Gomez has reportedly been hospitalised twice in the past two weeks after suffering a reported emotional breakdown.

Cape Town - Singer and actress Selena Gomez is seeking help to deal with her ongoing anxiety and depression.

TMZ reported Thursday that the "Wolves" singer was hospitalized the first time after she broke down in September over an "alarmingly" low white blood cell count in the wake of her kidney transplant. She was released from the hospital after a few days, but had to be re-admitted after the symptoms persisted.

Gomez is now at a treatment center receiving dialectical behavior therapy.

Radar previously reported that Gomez was traumatized by her friend Demi Lovato's overdose.

Reports say that Gomez "freaked out" after learning about her condition and attempted to rip an IV tube from her arm. Sources close to the website also revealed that the singer wished to leave after she was admitted.

Fans of the star took to social media on Thursday to show their support and pray for her. Several sources called the episode "an emotional breakdown".

Before leaving social media, Selena did an Instagram Live answering questions from fans and said depression had consumed her life for 5 years.

Gomez first sought treatment at Arizona's Dawn of the Meadows facility in early 2014. Just remember - negative comments can hurt anybody's feelings.

"Mood lol (I was looking at myself in the mirror - like an idiot!)" she wrote under the photo, later editing it to add, "Update: taking a social media break".
