Orange Is The New Black will end after season 7

The ensemble cast confirmed in a video today that the prison drama is ending in 2019. The critically-acclaimed dramedy initially followed the inmates of Litchfield Minimum Security Prison, with Season 6 seeing numerous main cast move to the Maximum Security facility often mentioned in the series.

In addition to two-time Emmy victor Aduba, Schilling, Kate Mulgrew, Laverne Cox, Natasha Lyonne and Pablo Schreiber earned Emmy nominations for their performances.

At this time, it is not known exactly when the last season will air, only that it will be sometime in 2019.

Reflecting on the series' conclusion, Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Content Netflix, said, "During production of Season 1, everyone involved with Orange Is The New Black felt like we knew a special secret we couldn't wait to share with the world".

One of Netflix's longest-running series is coming to an end.

Orange Is the New Black is set to end after its upcoming seventh season on Netflix. "My heart is orange but... fade to black".

But she added: 'Season seven you will not be disappointed, it is a season you will not forget and we're going to give you everything and more that you could have ever wanted. thank you, thank you, thank you'. I've been given the chance to stretch myself as an actress, further my reach as an activist, and have become a more confident woman because of this show.

To go along with the sad new, the cast of Orange Is the New Black has shared a goodbye video for their fans.

The show has received widespread critical acclaim throughout its run, garnering multiple Emmy nominations and back-to-back wins for Aduba in 2014 and 2015.
