No lie: Hope Hicks joins Fox as head of PR

The Fox appointment seems to deepen the relationship between Fox News and the White House, where former Fox News executive Bill Shine is the communications director. She also enjoyed close friendships with other officials such as White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and the president's daughter, Ivanka Trump.

One of President Donald Trump's longest-serving aides is entering the corporate world.

The Trump-Fox News bond continues to tighten.

Hicks graduated from SMU in 2010 and got her start with the Trump family in 2012 when Ivanka Trump needed public-relations help as she expanded her clothing line.

Hicks worked for Trump's campaign in NY, then moved to D.C. when Trump took office. Murdoch's son Lachlan is overseeing the company that will form once 21st Century Fox completes its $71 billion sale of studio and cable network assets to Disney.

The 29-year-old Hicks, who had served as the White House communications director from mid-August 2017 until her resignation last February, will serve as exec VP and chief communications office of the new Fox entity that will emerge when 21st Century Fox's merger with the Walt Disney finalized.

When NBC was owned by General Electric, the network's communications department had two heads who had worked in former President George H.W. Bush's administration.

Mr Trump and Mr Murdoch speak regularly by telephone, and the president supported by several high profile hosts on Fox News.

Chief legal and policy officer Viet Dinh announced Ms Hicks's hiring on Monday.
