Nance averaged 8.9 points and 7.0 rebounds per game in his 27 appearances in the regular season for Cleveland, and they clearly see him as an important piece for the future.

"Whitest thing I could've said", Kevin Love told The Athletic after Wednesday's game. "I'm happy we came out and got a win".

Kawhi Leonard did not get off to a great start by any stretch of the imagination. "He just said that and has a amusing way of bringing people in and making them more comfortable".

Leonard played 37 minutes in first regular-season action since January 13 - the two-time defensive player of the year missed all but nine games because of a quadriceps injury in a freaky season last year in San Antonio.

Before the game, Sky Sports pundit Redknapp quizzed the Cavs power forward on where his love for football (soccer) came from and who was his favourite Premier League player. Three other Raptors posted double-digits in the scoring column: Fred VanVleet with 14, Pascal Siakam with 13 and Danny Green with 11. You get a good win, it'll carry over. "So it has a little bit more importance for that reason".

"That rhythm wasn't there tonight", Love said.

Kevin Love led the Cavs with 21 points, while Cedi Osman added 17.

The son of Cavs legend Larry Nance, the younger Nance is now the lone Akron native on the team following the departure of LeBron James to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Jordan Clarkson and George Hill each scored 15 points and Rodney Hood had 12 for the Cavaliers, who trailed by as many as 20.

Nurse played to Toronto's strength, deploying 10 players throughout the game in a true display of the team's superior depth.

"We have to do it by committee", Lue said.

James has forged a reputation as one of the NBA's all-time greats and already had two championship rings when he returned to OH in 2014.

The Raptors took a 90-75 lead into the fourth quarter.

Nance Jr says the Cleveland Cavaliers are buoyed in the wake of James' decision to up sticks and join the Lakers though.

As his soggy sandals squished across the carpeted floor inside the visitor's locker room at Scotiabank Arena, Love quipped about needing extra time to "wash all the ugliness away" before heading to the team bus and embarking on Cleveland's next challenge.
