Speaking on Thursday, Wagner played down suggestions that Liverpool might be without a string of top names after the likes of Mohamed Salah (groin), Virgil van Dijk (rib) and Naby Keita (muscle) suffered injuries on global duty.

The big worry this week for Liverpool fans has been surviving the global break with as few injuries as possible.

A spokesperson for the EFA said the "allegations are incorrect", but did confirm Salah arrived at the Egypt squad with a report on his medical condition - as is common practice.

It would be a surprise if Mane starts just two days after hand surgery to fix a thumb injury.

And Holland manager Ronald Koeman has revealed Van Dijk should be fit to face the Terriers.

"Mane's recovery will be monitored over the next couple of days ahead of the Reds' return to action at Huddersfield Town on Saturday".

The Reds suffered a defeat in the hands of Chelsea in the Carabao Cup, before playing a 1 - 1 draw against Chelsea in the English Premier League.

Van Dijk played the entirety of the Netherlands' win over Germany on Saturday and then returned to Liverpool - missing Tuesday's friendly with Belgium.

Jurgen Klopp did not back down in his criticism of the Nations League on Friday, insisting that there is no space in the calendar for more competitive football.

Salah's muscle injury does not appear to be as serious as first feared and he could well start this weekend, while Van Dijk is playing through his own rib injury and is also expected to be in contention at the back.
