If the show carries on in this vein, it's going to be one hell of a season.

'She brought the episode to life and provided so much joy and energy!'

"It's so hard to convey how proud you are and be something and not share it with the most important people, the fans", added Whittaker, who said that she wanted it to be the "norm" that future Doctors can come in all "shapes and sizes, genders, sexualities and ethnicities".

But her first full episode as the 13th Doctor aired on Sunday in the UK.

Doctor Who has been one of the most anticipated new TV shows of the year ever since the BBC revealed that Jodie Whittaker would be taking over the role of the Time Lord and becoming the first female Doctor.

And it's safe to say she is already a firm favourite with BBC viewers.

This sounds like both a mission statement for where new show-runner Chris Chibnall wants to steer the series and a direct address to all those pathetic fanboys who whinged and wailed and threw their toys out of the Tardis when it was announced in July previous year that the Yorkshire-born star of Broadchurch would be the first female Doctor. When the Doctor appears and starts talking about other worlds, she barely bats an eyelid. "Whereas there's a slight mythology in the sense if you're a girl, you're a hero for a girl, which is not the case", she said.

"I just think there's no decision, if you are in a meeting with an incredible writer like Chris Chibnall, who you know is show runner of this extraordinary show, and the conversation you're having is 'would you audition for The Doctor?', as an actor I think there'd be a very long list of pros and a very short list of cons".

"We're really proud of it", Chibnall told Comic-Con over the weekend.

Blogtor Who, another site dedicated to the show, said Whittaker was "utterly believable" in the starring role. Fans of the reboot have thus far been robbed of this experience, and I hope that we can expect more ludicrous finales as the weeks roll by. I ask Whittaker to help me understand how her Doctor will be different, by asking if she could distill her Doctor to just one dominant trait, boil her down to one aspect what it would be.
