With this feature turned on, you can share your trip progress to folks you want to share with. This feature allows you to share your current location with people, which then enables them to track you real-time. Then you can invite them to view your location.

"Journey Sharing" is a feature that the Google Maps team rolled out for Android users past year, which allows for folks to share their real-time location with those they approve. With it, Google Maps users on iOS can share their live location with contacts in real time, enabling others to see their ETA without waiting for manual updates.

The feature is available now, so you can update to the latest version of Google Maps to use it.

This update - available via the Play Store and the App Store now - makes sharing your location easier by eliminating the need to manually send it via a separate text message. The update also includes support for sharing across 3rd-party apps like Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, and more. The person you are sharing your location with can also choose to share their own location with you, which is really helpful when you trying to meet a friend in a new area.
