After starting his career at Malmo (18) in Sweden, Ibrahimovic has gone on to score goals for Dutch giants Ajax (48), Juventus (26), Inter (66), Barcelona (22), AC Milan (56), Paris Saint-Germain and United (29).

That goal seemed to inspire the Galaxy as they completed a remarkable turn around to pull level at 3-3 midway through the second half, although Toronto regained the lead.

With the Canadian side leading 3-0, the Swedish forward received a pass from the Mexican midfielder Jonathan dos Santos and scored an extraordinary "karate-kick" goal with his right foot.

"He thinks he is the philosopher of football", Ibrahimovic is quoted as saying of the former Roma midfielder by MLS after the game.

The Swede joins Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as the only active players to reach the milestone, which includes goals for club and country. Unfortunately, it was not enough to earn Galaxy a point as Toronto scored two late goals to pick up the 5-3 win.

He added an additional 62 goals for the Swedish national team.

"I was close to the goal". "It came from a cross and I turned around and I hit it".

Ibrahimovic, 36, joined the Galaxy at the start of the 2018 season and now has 17 goals in 21 appearances for LA. "I was just trying to hit the goal and it went in".

"I'm happy for Toronto because they'll be remembered as my 500th victim", Ibrahimovic told TSN after the game.
