Tottenham v Liverpool — Big Match Focus

Spurs will be hoping for a positive result to close the gap between themselves and the Reds, after winning three of their opening four games this season.

"I know that's very hard to do but if they could go into February, March, April without it, I think they could have a real chance if they had free weeks."

"Last year, I don't think even Gary Neville would have said, 'let [Manchester] City win in the Champions League.' Sitting in an office talking about football is different to doing the job".

The two sides meet in Saturday's early kick-off in what many people are tipping to be Liverpool's first serious test of the season.

The former right-back suggested that if the German wants to win the league, he should forget all about the Champions League.

And Barnes says Liverpool shouldn't be anxious about losing Salah next summer to Real Madrid, City or United, claiming the forward is only thriving thanks to Klopp's system. However, Spurs have also picked up 43 points during this time period although they have played one more game but this should mean that today's game is an absolute thriller.

Tottenham won this fixture 4-1 last season in a comfortable victory over Jurgen Klopp's men, but they would need an incredible performance to repeat that feat. We can all speculate if a player is going to play well.

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson believes that Liverpool FC will emerge victorious against Spurs on Saturday in the Premier League.

"The plan was - and is still - he will make us better and that is what we are working on".

The Anfield outfit lost to Real Madrid in the Champions League final, a game that will be remembered for Gareth Bale's incredible overhead kick as well as the dirty tricks that Sergio Ramos played.

"We used the players who had the longest preseason, apart from Bobby [Roberto Firmino] who came pretty late. Mauricio [Pochettino] has the same issues, we all have to work with what we've got".

"But, I'd probably say the goal against Juventus was the nicest one".

"We are always confident that we can beat any team". Yes, we learned, the experience was that one game can be completely different to another.
