Sarri: We need a year to match Liverpool

West Ham were able to hold Maurizio Sarri's Chelsea scoreless, with the London sides facing off in a derby match at the Olympic Stadium on Sunday.

However, the Belgian playmaker was unable to help Chelsea FC to find the winning goal against West Ham United as they slumped to their first draw of the season.

Chelsea need their superstar to start thinking more like a wide forward and less like the winger he has always been if they are to avoid more days like this, particularly if Pedro's absence proves a lengthy one and goals continue to elude Morata and Giroud.

"We have started to work together 35, 40 days ago. I think the position in the table of West Ham is not reality".

'We have to work then, maybe, in one year we will be at the same level as Liverpool.

But if the German is not ready to face Liverpool on Saturday, Langley says Cahill must be the man to step in at Anfield; he has fewer concerns about the EFL Cup game between the two teams on Wednesday.

"Today was a very hard match", he said. "Against a team who have worked with the same coach for three or four seasons [Klopp joined in October 2015, with this his fourth campaign in charge]".

Michail Antonio was denied by a point-blank save from Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga with his thigh at the near post in the first half of a goalless draw at the London Stadium but the miss of the match was Yarmolenko's.

'We need to move the ball quicker, ' said Sarri. City could not live with them three times out of four meetings last season, and Chelsea at this stage are simply City-lite in style and quality.

But the Italian has admitted he could make a full squad change for the upcoming game against Liverpool in the cup match.

West Ham squandered the best chance of the game when Andriy Yarmolenko headed wide late in the second half from point-blank range. I am surprised. In Naples, the first month was very hard.

"It's about movement, so I think [Andreas] Christensen and [Ethan] Ampadu can handle that".

'We are trying to have him back for the end of the week, but I don't know at the moment'.
