Maurizio Sarri has said he has been warning his Chelsea players all week about the danger of dropping points after global breaks as they prepare to resume their Premier League campaign at home to Cardiff City on Saturday.

Chelsea: Cesc Fabregas is unlikely to be rushed back from a knee injury and is unlikely to feature.

The Blues have been playing some great football this season and with top-of-the-table Liverpool travelling to Tottenham this weekend, Chelsea have a great chance to leapfrog the Merseysiders with a fifth consecutive victory tomorrow.

"We have to play seven matches in 23 days, so I had to work", he said.

Mentally the match after the break is very hard; materially because we will play against a very physical team.

Fabregas is likely to only be fit for a place on the bench, though, and could replace Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who picked up an injury on global duty with England.

Neil Warnock's men have picked up two draws and two defeats from their opening four games, scoring just twice.

But in the last 12 meetings, Chelsea won 10, including both previous Premier League encounters in the 2013-14 season.

"We play against a very physical team, so I think if we want to gain points we need a very good performance tomorrow".

Maurizio Sarri has confirmed that he has decided who will replace Gary Cahill as Chelsea captain, but opted against revealing who it will be during his pre-Cardiff City press conference.

One of Sarri's biggest changes since taking over the helm at the Stamford Bridge has been the introduction of a much fluid and attacking style.

'We've earned the right to play against teams like Chelsea.

"I remember in my first season in Naples, the average points per match during the season was 2.28, I think", he said.

"We are looking forward to the test and with Manchester City to follow it doesn't get much tougher than that".
